I just purchased a new Oceanic Excursion back inflate BC. What should I expect to pay for for weight? Is there a usual $ amount per pound. I just don't want to pay too much. I expect that I'll need 16 lbs(guestimate by dive shop), I am a new diver and stole the BC so I had to buy it. Any advice please.............thanks, Rick

The going rate around here is $4 per pound, kinda pricey. If you keep an eye on local sales papers or Craighslist you can at times get some good deals. Lead is lead so old weights are fine. If you decide to buy (unless you get a good deal on used lead), break up your weights into smaller amounts. For example, if you need 16 lbs, don't get 4 4's. If you do, you are limited as to how much you can change your weights and how you can arrange them in trim pockets. A better option would be for maybe 4x2's, 2x3's and 2x 1's. With those amounts you can mix and match any weight from 2 to 16 lbs.

good info, tried out my buddy's Bp/w with the exact weight setup, couple 4s, 4 2s and seemed to work fine, but I hope I can find the weight for closer to $3 per lb.

Rixxir, not sure where you're located but when Scuba Quest has their "Tent" Sales they tend to have weight really reasonable.... not quite sure the exact amount but I am a cheap guy and I didn't bat an eye.....

Thanks for the ScubaQuest info, called them and they sold the weight for tent sale price of $3/lb. good deal from good people............Sarasota Scuba Quest, also where I purchased a $579 BC for around $300, great deal.
