I just got a new Zeagle Ranger for Christmas but did not get the weight pouches for the ripcord pockets. All the places I checked either do not sell them or are out of stock. Is anyone using any other kind of pouch system that will work well with the BC's or is another way to intergrate the weights?

Thanks,

'bob

Zeagle Contoured Weight Pouch
Zippered Weight Pouches
Fits the Ripcord or Zip-touch weight systems - two required for each BC
Provides a convenient way to manage your weights
Stores multiple weights in one bag
Easy way to release more than one weight at a time
Helps prevent lose of individual weights
COLOR: Yellow or Black
Buy Zeagle Contoured Weight Pouch (Each) 8042 with reviews at scuba.com

The yellow pockets are completely optional. I dive my zeagle with the weights simply zipped into the pockets. The ripcord loops are spaced close enough that nothing bigger that a 2# can get thru and even a 2# is unlikely to slip thru. The main reason for the yellow pouches IMO is convenience, so all you have to do is tuck one yellow pouch into each pocket on the BC. Get them if you like, but don't hold off diving the BC just because you don't have them yet.

Thanks for the response. I should have provided more info up front. I use a number of 1/2 pound lead weights approximately 1" in diameter by about 3 inches long. Because of the nature of my work, I have have a large supply of these so they are free. They have worked well in other intergrated weight pouch systems on different BC's and they make it easy to trim the bc. However, they are small enough that they will likely fall between the elastic chords. I did not fully understand the design of this system at the time when I bought the BC or I would have likely did something different at the time. So it looks like I will need some kind of containment system before I use it.

I don't use the yellow pouches with cast lead weights. The pouches work great for holding the lead shot in a bag weights.

Yea, just order the pouches from Scubatoys. In the meantime, just zip tie two of those 1/2 pounders together. I doubt they'll slide through together.

Or be creative, put the weights in old socks or hose and tie shut. The yellow thingies are nice but nothing magic about them.

I second the sock idea.

Another idea for the future, lots of do-it-yourself types like have also made our own soft weights by using panty hose and led shot. The led shot is purchased at the sporting goods store, typically used for shotgun shells, and it comes pretty cheap. Pour the shot into a panty hose leg, weigh it out to the correct weight (use your bathroom scale if you don't have one otherwise), then tie it off, wrap it back, tie it off again, etc until you run out of a panty hose leg. You want several layers because you'll get snags and the more layers the better protection. Snip the end and it works great. I'm sure you could do the same with your 1/2 pounders for a fraction of the cost of the yellow bags. My panty hose weights have lasted for years!
