I recently purchased that rad orange riptide bc at scubatoys. http://www.scubatoys.com/store/detail.asp?product_id=RipTideBC (to preempt the LDS flaming - my LDS gives me attitude when I pop in to look around and not buy anything -I'm on a budget, I'm a teacher!- even though I've rented there and bought a $300 wetsuit there.:shakehead)
To the point - Its weight integration is the velcro dump pockets, and on the UTC website, it shows and writes about pouches to hold the weights in the pockets. I can't seem to find anywhere to purchase those pouches. Any suggestions for where I can find them, or some alternatives. I'm thinking that I will want to keep my weights all together to hand them up on a boat, or for retreival in the event of ditching.
(in case it is not entirely obvious, this is my first BC.)
Thanks for any input!

Wow so you got one of those orange bc's. Well at least you will be easy for your dive buddy to locate. Here is my 2 cents, ScubaToys-Larry is top notch and always accomodating, will be brutally honest with you and even though issues can happen he/they have always come through to make things right, and thier prices are hard to avoid. LDS-you know one of the reasons it took me so long to become certified was the personallitys of the LDS employees. The shop I was certifed at had thier own pool and schedual that worked for me, and the instructor was really good. Now the others that work there well are very biased when it comes to thier products, and also when it comes to the compitition (be it another LDS or the web). A word of advice-research, research, research. Look at each item you buy and scour the web and ask multiple dive shops or even just other divers opinions. When talking to ANYONE (including me) dont take every word for face value. Many LDS and even those here will tell you what you want to here to get you to buy THIER product. Instead loook at how is this going to fit me, will if work for me, will it fit in my budget, do I REALLY have to have this or can I live without it. Sometimes you need to be able to physically touch the item or have to try it on. Back to you BC. I think the pouches you are looking at are the yellow thingies on the ScubaToys website right? I purchased a brigade bc from then and they have a different weight pocket system that in my opinion almost requires them. The benifit to the pouches are with having mulitple wts in each pocket you can keep them together not only for handing them up to the boat or for retrival but also so when every one goes to hoard the weight bin to get thier weights they drag thier bc over to the weight bin (for the ones without those removable pockets-which are few) and crowd the area, you on the other hand just need the pouches grab your weights and your off to the water. They are very handy. Good luck.

Thanks! I have found a slightly less local, but far nicer dive shop, so when they come back from the Carib., I will be shopping there more often.

One question, though, what "yellow thingies"?

Actually on my riptide they came with 2 additional weight pockets that go on the tank strap. I never used them for 2 years, tried them on vacation and love them. Put the smallest amount of weight in the tank pockets. gives me room to tuck something in the front pocket...

they are interior pouches to hold the wts, on the Zeagle bc's with the ripcord system (a cord laced like shoe laces on the bottom of each pocket) you almost must have to have them or you can lose small wts or if like my buddy he lost a 5lb wt due to a missed hole in the lacing system. Not all LDS are bad I have a really good one that is close to my house and offers many dive trips and are more than knowlegble and have gone WAY out of their way for me and others and if they dont have what you want there in the store they will get it. I wish I could say that about all shops though.

after seeing dk2943's post and going to the link I see your pouches you need They are the same as the zeagle yellow thingies but made more for your bc

Cheekymonkey:
Let us know how diving it goes, I'm looking to buy a few of those.

I'm a bit farther north than you, (and I mean the CT location you provide) so I probably won't get out for about a month or so, but I have of course tried on the BC and it is ridiculously comfortable, and has all the features I wanted in a BC as far as pockets and dump valves.

Yeah, at first I thought that they were wt pouches I was looking for, but when I saw the velcro straps, I figured it out, and I intend to use them. :14:

Awesome Darth, keep us updated... I'm looking at buy ing a bunch of them for rental gear for studnets.... making them orange wouldnt be a bad thing... Are they fairly easy to use in the realm of jackets?
