I am going to be in San Pedro Sula for a business trip the week of May 11th. Right now it looks like I will have to extend the trip into the next week. Is it feasible to depart San Pedro on Friday 5-15 in the afternoon and return the evening or the 17th or the morning of the 18th?
Weekend on one of the Bay Islands?

If you leave San Pedro Sula at 5.15pm you could not get to Utila, planes can not fly in after dark and the last ferry leaves at 4pm from La Ceiba, the only possible way would be to hire a plane from San Pedro and fly in, the cost for that is approx $650.
You could get to La Ceiba and then come over on the ferry the next morning.

From LaCeiba you can also get to Roatan via ferry using the method described above. Links to the ferry schedules:

There are options to hire a car/driver from SPS to LCE. Someone posts about it here pretty regularly. Not sure about the timing though. Either way, you're still overnighting in LCE most likely.

Maybe I'm reading your orig post differently then Steve, do you mean leave SAP at 5:15pm, or that you would leave on the afternoon of May 15th?
If it's the afternoon of May 15th, I believe SOSA Airlines has a flight that leaves around 2:30pm, stops in LCE, that would connect to either island. You can check with Alice Hill at alice@Utilatravel.com for specifics. She also has info on charter flights available for both islands from both LCE & SAP.
If you are talking about leaving SAP at 5:15pm, then the guys are right. You'll have to overnight in LCE before coming out to the islands.

Yes if you leave in the afternoon you would not get to the islands that day, but you could get to them the next morning.

Call Islenna and Sosa they have 5/8 DAILY flights to Roatan between them depending upon the day and season.
