My wife and I got certified in October. Since that time we have done 66 dives. Almost every weekend we are making the 4-7 hour treks to different areas in Florida. The addiction has gotten so bad, my other hobbies have gotten zero time. At this point we are now job searching in Florida.

I post this for no other reason than to say thank you to the members here. While I don't post terribly often the "search" field has given me a ton of answers that knowledgeable members have replied. When I have had questions, and started threads almost immediately I've gotten replies.

Thank you!!!:D

Welcome to the sport. It seems you've jumped in with both feet. In any case you're showing great restraint since so far Diving has only displaced other hobbies. It could be worse (better) since for many of us diving has displaced, friends, family, work, sleep, food, etc.

It all goes to show that this sport should come with a warning label.
WARNING, scuba diving has been found to be highly addictive.

Good luck on the job search.

The first step is admitting that you have a problem.

... I don't know what the second step is, because I don't have a problem!!

Good Luck, and Safe and Happy Diving! -N

66 dives since October? Sheesh! Man, I wish I could dive as much as you and your wife...and here I thought I was rocking and rolling with 25 since November. Good luck on the job hunt! Let me know if there's any science jobs around, I may be looking to move to Florida myself if there are... :14:

If you're looking for dive-related jobs, have a look at Jobs4Divers.com, which has more than 750 listings currently and more added every day.

Wow! Good for you! I still haven't gotten very many dives down, still buying gear. I'm glad to see another person catch the diving bug!

Wow, I'm jealous. Wish I had that many dives in since October. As you have found out, it certainly is an addictive sport. But what the heck, someone has to do it! Have fun!

Uh, just so you won't be laboring under any misapprehensions... I've been at this for about 40 years, and I'm "still buying gear."
Indeed, the only ceiling on the annual bill seems to be all that's in the wallet.
Oops!
Gotta run... the lake calls...
:D

Glad to hear you're enjoying the sport so much. Remember, you'll never be done buying gear. I quit keeping record of my dive gear spending when it hit 5 figures in inventory (my personal stuff...)

Just remember, whoever dies with the most moist toys wins. :D
