Greetings,

I’m looking into purchasing a Waterproof drysuit. I’ve been leaning towards the D1X Hybrid ISS, but as I do more and more research, it seems that it takes quite some weight to sink it. Now I’ve started looking at other models within the same brand, specifically the D7X Nylotech and the D7 Pro Cordura ISS.

Does anyone have experience with the above mentioned, and can provide any input?

Thanks in advance.

I currently dive both suits and love both for different reasons. Southern California is also where I do most of my cold water diving.

The D1X is hands down the warmest suit I have EVER worn. You will most likely be able to lose 1 layer of undergarments if not a little more. This will help offset the extra weight required. I do have to add weight for the D1X. The D1X is also a back zip suit so if you are diving solo or don’t want to ask others for help with getting dressed it’s something to think about.

Unless you can find a store with leftover stock or TUSA (waterproof distributor in US) has the D7 Pro Cordura will not be an option as they are discontinued for the D7X Nylotech.

So now onto the D7X Nylotech I love this suit and it has been my new go to suit. The material is supposedly more durable than Cordura but is so much more supple. Feature wise it has everything you will need and want.

I have roughly 50 dives in each suit. I bought both thinking I would sell the one I didn’t like but ended up keeping both for different reasons.

If you have any specific questions let me know I would be happy to help.

Thank you so much for your response. I have pretty much set my mind around the D7X. Size wise, do they run small or big?

I have a D7 Pro in large that I am selling. Suits are very well made, heavy, length-wise spot on to their size recommendation. The chest and leg area is, however, huge. Looks like they took Arnold as a model.

LOL - How about the boots size?

John - Not sure where you are but I will be in Ventura, CA Thursday-Sunday if you want to check out both suits in person. I'll be diving off the Spectre and you are welcome to check them out after we get back. If you are interested send me a PM and I'll get you my contact information.

I have the d7 pro iss cordura. It’s bulletproof. It’s a warm suit because it’s thick and heavy. I wear fourth element arctics, usually no base layer and I’m warm in 39f water. Hands get cold even in dry gloves before my body does.

Thank you so much, Ben! I won't be able to make it to Ventura this coming weekend, but just pulled the trigger and ordered a D7X large. Thanks a lot for your input.

Thanks for the heads up Dave!
