Young man from SJB dies after drowning in Cordeiro-RJ​

Lucas Silva, 21, from São Paulo, died after drowning in a water tank at the Cordeiro water treatment plant, in the Serrana Region of Rio, this Thursday (07).

Lucas would be in the company of another diver who noticed that there was something strange about the dive. Soon, Lucas was pulled out of the water and rescued, but he couldn't resist. According to the Fire Department's press office to the SFnotícias website, the municipality's detachment was called at 9:18 pm to attend to the rescue of personnel at the station, located on Valter Vieitas street.

Also on the SF Notícias website, the chief delegate of the 154th Police Station of Cordeiro, Dr. Gilberto Soares, informed that the victim is a diver and that he would be cleaning the water tank. Also according to the delegate, the victim was identified as Lucas da Silva.

According to information from the Fire Department's press office, the 21-year-old was referred to Hospital Antônio Castro. The corporation also reported that the hearse removed the body at 1:56 am at the hospital, and the body was sent to the Legal Medical Institute of Nova Friburgo.

The delegate also informed that initially the case was registered as drowning, but that the Civil Police are awaiting the IML reports with the cause of death. Also according to the delegate, the diver was wearing equipment. The case remains under investigation.
