What is the current water temperature? Has anyone been to Something Special recently? We are interested in knowing if Big Bertha, the huge yellow froggie is still around?

Any ideas about dive sites with easy entries? Thanks

83-84 over last three weeks.
No frogfish seen at SS.

Some easy entries are the Lake, Pink Beach, Te Amo.
The easy entries at Something Special and at Bari Reef are both blocked off.

Why is Something Special and Bari Reef blocked off? There still are other entries there, right?

The easy (sand) entry to Bari Reef is in front of the Den Leman condos, which now has a wall to make it difficult to get to and a No Trespassing sign to make it uncomfortable to get to. You can still enter to the south, but it is over hardpan with coral rubble and holes, like most of the sites.

Something Special is blocked off for parking and direct access, but you can drop people off and park elsewhere. Or, you can enter from the south (but not an easy entry) and walk a long way from your car.

BSDME lists the diffiuclty-of-entry for each shore site.

A few weeks ago while on Bonaire, I was told that there are a few parking spaces at SS. I did not check this out personally. Have you been to the site to take a look?

We found a surprisingly easy entry thru the ironshore at Vista Blue. Lots of current there the afternoon we dove it. It's this one - assuming it's still there. Shore Diving Site Picture for: Vista Blue of Bonaire South, ABC Islands

The other easy entry to Bari is off Sand Dollar's property thru Dive Friends on location. They have stairs, a changing hut/tank storage on the south end of the Sand Dollar property. The black fence is the corner of the Den Laman property and several years ago the Bonaire Dive/Adventure owner blocked access to his dock for Sand Dollar guests during a fuss over dock ownership (or something) so Sand Dollar/Dive Friends made their own:

We found no spaces. We parked to the south and swam north.

Dove it 3 wks ago. Found a parking spot right there, per normal. Spaces are limited, however, and several formerly available spots are now blocked by home owner. As to a frogfish, I was told by two sources that there was one present in shallow water, but even with fairly clear instructions, we were unable to find it.

Yes, Dive Friends has a location at Bari Reef and access is across Sand Dollar property in accordance with a lease arrangement. The lease grants privileges to Sand Dollar owners, renters and guests, but excludes all others. Dive Friends will be in violation of its lease if it allows unlimited access.

Water temp was 82 during the 2 wks we were there in mid/late August.
