Can you classify water color (blue or green) for a particular area of the world or is it a mix due to local conditions?

I'm trying to understand this to prepare for a trip to Fiji.

Just bring filters for both, or can you classify an area of the world as a color?

What color is Fiji?

I thought that area of the world would always be blue but trips to Indonesia like Komodo and Raja Ampat seemed to be green. Not certain whether that was genuinely due to the water color, or just my camera or technique at the time.

There is always confusion between water color and filters. Green water filters are not designed for water that is a bit green but for cold or temperate waters with green algae. So if you really need a filter one for bluewater will be fine. If your camera has custom white balance skip the filter entirely for best results
