Hi all in the new year i will be getting my OW at a inland dive site in the uk I know it will be cold but im hoping to do mainly uk diving apart from when on holiday i know many of you will say why not go sharm ect. (somewhere warm to get my OW) but i cant really do that lets just say my fiance does not wish to try diving and dont like flying, so for the easy life i will be doing it in the UK at Holsbrough lakes / Neams Diving Academy in Kent if any body has tips for a beginner or any expericance with neams or holsbrough lakes please let me know.

many thanks

Cool. It's a bit chilly in the uk in January. I sold a torch to the guy who owns neams. Seems like a nice guy

Try to have a holiday on the west coast of Scotland around end of August / September, water temps are a balmy 14C :D

they seem nice and helpful when i have phoned them

I did my OW dives in Holborough and have dived there a couple of times since. They're nice people there, if its not busy they'll greet you on your way out of the water with a cup of tea! Otherwise you just need to go ask for it.

The facilities are fairly basic at the moment, there is a toilet and you can get air fills and free tea but not much in the way of food so bring that with you.

There are training platforms at various depths. When I did my OW dives there was almost zero vis but if there are not many divers there and its cold then the vis might be better.

You should be fine in a dry suit, have fun :-)

thanks matt that is two people saying there nice people i think i might have made the right choice (go me) just counting down the weeks now untill xmas is over and I can decide to book
