I have a question regarding warranty regarding batteries for Uwatec Computers. Say I purchased a new Uwatec Smart z about 18 mos ago. I dived a bit and then it went on the shelf till now. I want to sell it cuz i want something different. I never filled out the warranty card. Can I sell this to a friend and give them the warranty card and have them still be able to get the batteries replaced? It seems odd that one could not since I paid full retail for the computer in the first place and have receipt and warranty card. After reading some of the posts on here it seems Uwatec wants only one owner and then it is basically throw away when the batteries die. I still have 80% battery power.

Thanks
Chris

Chris, From my understanding from our scubapro rep is that the Batteries for life program is a program designed specifically for the North American business market. I know here, they wont even consider the replacement until the battery is down to 25% or less, with an exception of if they have to crack it open for any other reason, ie repair. It is also my understanding that the warranty is only good for the original owner, since you still have your warranty card, are you certain the authorised dealer you purchased it from didn't already register via a online method when it was sold. We register our customers products online at the time of sale, and allow the customer to keep the entire card to facilitate documention of serial numbers if the need should arise. This ensures the warranty gets activated and any issue with serial numbers can be resolved right away. If the unit was already registered, any attempt to re-register it will result in an invalid serial number.
Keep in mind this information is for the other side of the world (North America) from your location tag, the rules may be entirely different, simply contact the Scubapro office responsible fro Austrailia sales and ask them.
