Looking to get a new camera this year and to use it underwater as well. I currently use a T2i with sea and sea housing. What camera would you hold off for? I found this paige with some rumors. Canon 5D Mark IV « NEW CAMERA I am interested in the new SL2 only for its size but underwater a dslr is going to be a dslr. I would consider a 5d iii assuming the price will drop but in all reality how much would I really save over the new 5d iv?

With dslr I MIGHT want to wait, but with cameras just as computers theres always going to be "the next thing" to wait for and if you keep waiting for the next thing, you'll never get the current one..

EDIT: also, the next camera might not be easy to get a housing for immediately after release, making the wait a bit longer and the next next thing closer :p

You see better results with improving your own skill/technique, getting good glass, and shooting more often as opposed to waiting for a new body to come out.

Plus one for the camera being less important than the photographer.

The pictures I've attached were taken with an iPhone, some with a 4S, some with a 5. Watershot housings, with a red filter. No editing, other than the turtle. No tray. No strobes.
Are they acceptable quality?

I agree! I really want a new camera for topside and I just know how I am. If I have a new shinny body I will want to play with it underwater. "getting new glass" you say, what do you mean by this?

As the picture you have look good. If I were just going to use an iphone or something similar, I would just take a GoPro.

Lenses! :)

(And ports of course)

If I had to buy a new camera I'd buy the 70d and use the extra money on great lenses for land and maybe a 12" dome port for some cool over under shots; lights and strobes.
For now, my t4i, tokina 10-17mm with 4" dome port and canon 100mm do just fine.

of course they are acceptable, but when you're talking about bringing down a DSLR you're not looking for acceptable, you're looking for big wallprint quality..
To each their own of course. Some people want some decent to good vacation shots, some want a bit more and some want to spend thousands of dollars for that little extra. (and yes, it WILL be thousands just in uw housings and ports for high-end DSLRs)

There are always rumors of new Canon dslrs coming out and they are usually rumors for about 1-2 years before it actually happens. 7D MKII has been rumored to be coming out for two years now. If you wait for the 5DmIV to come out you will be waiting for a long time..
