Bula!
I know you can get a good discount by not making a reservation and asking for a walk-in special when you get there. Is this a good idea for smaller places, like in Kadavu and the Yasawas where they have 3 - 5 bures of the type I would want. We'll be there from July20th - August 1st. Also, if you recommend making reservations, do you know if you get a better rate by calling rather than going through their website?

Thank you to everyone who gets on this site to help others. This is my first real travel experience and I don't know and I can't believe how tricky it is to figure everything out.

Hi: I am a Fiji travel wholesaler and I have some really, really good last minute specials at some of the dive resorts in Kadavu, the Yasawas and Beqa. I wouldn't suggest waiting until you get there because Fiji has had a record year for bookings and most of the resorts have been sold out with Australia and New Zealand business. Most of the bookings are coming from people who usually go to Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand but don't want to go there because of the sonami. If you want to email me direct I can give you some good quotes: www.dolphinadventures2004@yahoo.com.

Thanks,
Mary Jane

Bula! We just got back from Taveuni, which was awesome! Be careful of walk-ins, unless you're up for an adventure! I know the place we stayed (Matei Point) had 5 bures, and they were all booked up for the next several months! I don't know what the other places are like, or what the difference is in price, but for our amazing bure by the ocean, it was $100 US a night. That was about middle of the road. The owner of Matei, Scott, is an incredibly friendly guy, and I'm sure that his prices are the same over the phone as online...but building up a rapport can never be a bad thing!

Good luck!
