I am fairly new to underwater photography and have a few questions. I have a canon A95, the canon housing, and a sealife digital strobe. I was curious as to if you could put a wide angle lens on the housing? If so, how would you put it on because there is a metal ring on the lens portion of the housing. Also, if anyone could help me out with this; where would you buy an extra o-ring for the housing?

Thanks a lot,
Alex

Alex: I have the A95 with the housing and wide angle lens. I got mine through Inon...you need to purchase the lens mount and the wide angle lens. You need the UWL 105AD wide angle and the mount is the AD Mount Base DC900/50. I purchased mine from Inon and the price isn't that bad. I also use the Inon strobes for it. Good luck and if you have any more questions i'll be glad to help you out if i can.

OH, and as for the 0-ring you can purchase it from Canon itself. it's like $15 for it.

where on canon's site do they sell the o-rings?

Hi Alex,

I'm using A95 with canon housing too. Got myself the Inon adapter for 67mm lens and Inon's macro lens , 67mm.

When i'm looking for an adapter for lens, i realised that A95 users can only use AD mount type of lens and adapter, which is what i'm trying to avoid for a simple reason. The AD mount macro lens has less magnification power then the 67mm ones. And should I upgrade my camera in future, my lens may not be able to accomodate it. I'm lucky that the shop that i bought my inon strobe from, are able to customise the
67mm lens adapter for my A95. The customised 67mm adapter is able to accomodate WA lens as well.

By the way, I just brought my original Canon O ring to an industrial grade o ring manufacturer and asked for O rings of the same dimensions and material. I got o rings of the exact dimensions and fit, and had tested it with a few dives, empty housing of course. And after I'm satisfied, i load my camera into the housing and did a few dives with it too. Perfect replacement for the expensive original Canon o ring. The industrial grade o ring costs me S$1.40 per piece , that is less than US$1 at current exchange rates.
:D
