What is a VPM Code? I'm buying a used Petrel 2; do I need a code? Thanks.

VPM is a decompression algorithm that is compatible with the V-planner computer program.some like to use the original gadient factor, Buhlmann based program,... Some prefer the VPM model. VPM is an upgrade that can be purchased for the Shearwater computers.

Yes I use VPM as my preferred algorithm. I think its $75 AUD here. If however you have a computer problem and send it back, ensure you tell them you have the code, as if they replace the computer heart, you will need a new code.
I like having it simply so that I can match algorithms with dive buddies as I have buddies that prefer VPM while others GF. I do wish that Shearwater would unlock all the old Predators for CCR since their newer computers have internal setpoint mode from the get go.
