here is a tour of the shore diving site.... we had several dives there during the week, all over an hour, so I had tons of footage to edit down. Highlight of the site: 6 different kinds of eels! Yes - I got 4 kinds on video (spotted, goldentail, sharptail, purplemouth) and saw 2 more (green moray - found his body and tail in a rockpile but couldn't get a shot of his head, and a gorgeous chain moray found last dive of trip but I didn't have the video rig!)

Very good footage ! Thanks for posting, Robin. I'm sending this link to my friends who think there is no shore diving in Coz.

thanks! Just make sure you tell them that this is not typical of Cozumel. Scuba Club has done this to give all their guests a shore diving option. Most places on the island say there is 'free shore diving' but there is nothing but sand, no fish, no rubble to attract fish, etc. Just one more reason that Scuba Club is our favorite place on the island (we have been to Cozumel 7 times, twice now to SCC and we won't stay anywhere else now!)

I know what you mean that it's not typical. At another AI on the island I had the experience where unlimited shore diving was advertised but they didn't even have a decent entry/exit point. The one ladder they provided at the dock bent backwards a bit, so you were actually pulling yourself (and all your gear) up out of the water on a backwards slant and gravity was NOT your friend. Can't wait to try out SCC on my next Coz trip :)

Thanks! It's been a few years since I have stayed at Scuba Club. The shore dive seems much better now than I remember it. I think the addition of the old pier rubble has helped out a lot. Just looks like more cover than before. Probably would be a decent night dive as well.
