7 min video of my recent dive near Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. We encountered approximately 15 bull sharks including an ~8 ft female. We were at approx. 80ft and laid at the bottom while the sharks moved around. Water temperatures were around 80 which was comfortable in a 1mm suit although it felt awefully cold on the boat wit...h the wind.
We were so close to the beach of Playa Del Carmen from our dive site that we could hear the music from a festival happening on the beach while on the boat. We did 2 dives in the afternoon which included an interesting surface interval - there was an event going on at the beach which was just 500m from the dive site...this provided its own share of wildlife ;)

I went with Scorpio Divers, who are based out of Cancun and operate throughout the Mayan Riviera. Highly recommended.

Where is the video?

And here it is again

Ben, thanks to you and Jorge for the awesome dives. You guys run a great operation.

Pretty sure I saw one licking it's lips.

Nice Video!

So, how did you know the sharks were going to be there?

According to Ben and Jorge, there is another group that regularly feeds the sharks in the afternoons.

The sharks respond the to presence of the dive operators because Phantom Divers have been chumming them. They start to circle on the bottom before the divers even hit the water because the boat motor attracts them. At the beginning of the thread the poster described how close it is to the public beach. YIKES!!!
