After each dive, I generally make a video compilation of 2 to 3 edited minutes of high quality MPEG. My program also has the ability to output to WMV, but only very low quality.

My current website format only allows downloads (not streaming) so I want the resulting files to be around 5mb or so, what I consider a reasonable download time. I am trying to make small WMVs for download.

The MPEG files I now make are between 20 and 30 MB. The WMVs my software produces (from the same movie length) are about 2MB and pretty crappy quality. I believe they are intended for email. I want to try and produce WMVs that are of higher quality and about 5 to 6 MB.

Does anyone know of any software that allows the user to adjust the output size and quality in a transparent fashion and do what I am trying to accomplish. I think Howard had some nice quality WMVs of reasonable size posted on the board before.

Any suggestions appreciated.

I've used VisualHub (Mac) recently to convert wmv to mpg, it has the capacity to covert in the other direction. There is a "quality" slider to allow higher or lower fidelity copies, you might check out their website. There is a trial to download that will handle about 2 minutes of video, you can see if it works. I think it is mac only though.
