veo 250 or veo 180nx

looking at a used veo 250 or a new 180nx for just about the same mone. Is there enough extra features of the 250 to make you skip over the 180nx? thanks stan..

I think the biggest difference is the number of dives it can store in the memory log. Do you download your dives to your PC at home?? If not, that's probably not a big selling point for you.

The Veo 180 may not allow you to download your dives at all (unclear from the product description).

I have the older Veo 200. I wouldn't buy either one simply due to the fact that both are only one button computers but that's a personal preference.

The 250 does have 2 buttons - Oceanic Worldwide - Personal Dive Computers - Veo 250 which imo is the biggest diff between the 2. I have a 200 and the wife has the 180. The 180 you have to wait as it scrolls thru menus whereas the 250 (assuming it works like the 200) you can click the 2nd button to move to the item you are looking for. Not that big a deal, but a bit more convenient. Also the 180 does allow you to upload to your pc. Follow the links from the oceanic site and you can compare the specs.

I see. The site I used had the wrong picture of the Veo 250 it seems and it only had one button. My Veo 200 has two buttons as well so I was wondering about that.

The Veo250 will store more dives in the log than the 180NX
The 250 has a pre-dive/simulate mode which the 180NX lacks

the 180NX does provide for downloading if you have the cable (not included).

I don't need the simulation mode and I usually put dives in my paper log pretty quickly so the 180NX is more than sufficient for me.

Same here------I have the 180(& bought the cable---have used it ?1 time).........I like my 180, has gotten me home safely on many a deco dive.....just saying.....

To the OP, the 180 is now DC'ed, remember that.......

Since the 180 has only one button on the front, and is the standard hockey puck size, there's probably a DSS bungee mount that it will fit into. That would be enough to make the decision for me.(My first computer was a 250 and I still use it for back-up, but I'd never heard of DSS when I bought it.)

I have the Aeris XR2, which is pretty darn close to the the VEO 250, and was unable to find a DSS mount for it (to my great sadness - I have DSS mounts for my Suunto Vyper and SK7 compass, both of which are awesome). DSS does make a wrist mount for the Oceanic Oceanic VT3/VT computer, but that's it (https://www.deepseasupply.com/index.php?category=instruments - in an especially overly-optimistic mood, I did try using the VT3 mount on my Aeris, but to no avail). I remain ever hopeful that DSS will make one for VEO/Aeris users one day!
