So I just got back from a marine bio trip to ventana, mexico in a hotel called palapas ventana. If anyone wants a nice short flight from LAX (2 hours to La Paz) and still great diving with not that many divers in the area this is a great place. An hour away from the airport, palapas ventanas is an awesome resort with a great staff. Tim, the owner, is very knowledgeable about the area and you'll always see something interesting there. Really good dive packages for 5 days and tim still takes you to some of the more popular sites like la rena or la renita but some other places that are really nice too.

cool pics. sounds like a nice trip. how was the viz and water temps?

viz was great but it changes day from day. average viz was 30-50 feet though the day before it rained viz at one site (la rena) went from 40 feet viz to pretty bad but there is always a sight that has good viz. water temps were from the 80s-84 degrees. forgot to mention these conditions are only in the summer because the winds pick up alot during the winter which is more for kiteboarding so scuba diving is a summer thing. You see a bunch of stuff along the way to dive sites too like marlins jumping, whales, and sometimes you can spot whale sharks or mantas in the area....didn't get to see the whale shark on my trip though

oh man, i'm so excited! i'm diving in la paz in about two weeks! i'm thinking the water will be a few degrees cooler, but otherwise should be similar right?
