I've been searching the web looking to find a dive shop nearby and have not had much luck! Can anyone recommend one?

Hi Sharkyvvvv. Welcome to ScubaBoard! :admingreet:

Sorry I can't help you about Hilton Head but you might want to check out this forum. It's got divers in it from NC.

There isn't one, it closed some years ago. Try Savannah, it's close by. There's some fairly recent Savannah info posts in the Deep Dixie forum.

Be prepared for a long boat ride, the better stuff is 15-20 miles offshore. What makes HH such a great beach resort makes for lousy diving.

Type Hilton Head in the Search box in the top menu bar here for some recent posts on the subject.

And welcome to Scubaboard!

Check out this site and see if it helps. There are a couple of dive operators here in Savannah and Captain Walt is one of them. You can find him on my Friend's list on my profile. Also my Scuba shop has started weekend charters on a 6pack. Weather permiting. I-95 Exit 87*** Richmond Hill Due to the Geographics of the coast...vis can vary from 5'-30'. Most of the reefs are pristine and full of life due to the limited contact there is from divers. If I can help you further, please PM me!

Good luck!

Welcome Aboard !
See Captain Walt.
He's around here somewhere !;)

Carolyn,

That is I-95 at exit 90. The shop is Scuba Market USA. It is a true world class shop. Check them out at scuba-market.com. Also check out Blackbeard's Scuba club. The link is in Carolyn's post.

Sharkyvvvv,

When will you be in Hilton Head? Depending on the dates, we may be able to dive togather.

Hello Carolyn & Mike,

I'll be in Hilton Head from 6/23 through 6/27 but diving times are flexible since the my family will work around me. Thanks for the information on club and shop, I'll look them over. If your able to dive during the week we can see if we can drop in together.

The other place to check is going out of Charleston, SC (about 50 minutes drive). There are a couple shops there that do dives in the ocean and Cooper River for Sharks teeth (only issue with that for me is the gators). Enjoy your stay in HHI. It is truly beautiful and plenty of fun things for the family.

Thanks for the feed back, In torn between "Mako Dive Charters out of Savanna Georgia or Charleston SC as a location but your in put is great, thanks.

I dove with both Mako and Charleston Scuba. Both dive operations do a good job for the diving. My vote would be Mako for a few reasons. 1- they are closer 2- smaller operation/ more personal service 3- very well run operation.
