Hi all I'm back from Hawaii..=:{( All good things come to an end. Anyway I've posted the dive pic's on the net if any of you want to see them. There just "snapshots" taken with a Ikelite Auto 35 without a external stobe. Most came out ok for a point and shoot. You can find them at http://members.home.net/diveflag Enjoy.. Sea Monkey

Looks like you had a great trip! I bought a strobe for my RC Reefmaster on the advice of the people on this board. I'm glad I did. I bet it would make a big difference in your photos too.

having the strobe would have been so much better SM.

I also have a Reefmaster and my initial purchase didn't include the external strobe. A lot of my pictures suffered from the backscatter.

You have made an investment in a camera I personally would recommend you take it a little further and get the strobe, especially if you will be shooting off Catalina. Although the vis is ok it is not like Hawaii and the backscatter can become irritating, especially when you take a pic of something you definitely want to have to show to friends.

Enjoy, thanks for the pics, I will be going to Maui in Sept and will share the pics from that trip.

No Fooks I didn't use any other light source. Just the built in flash. I know that adding a external stobe will make a big difference but having used one in the past I have found that that kind of setup turns the dive into a "Photo Dive" with everything revolving around the picture taking instead maybe just carefree exploring and hving fun with your buddy. It's nice to have a small camera that you don't have to give much thought too but can whip it out to get that memory shot with. Even though some of the shots are plagued with back scatter they still bring back the memory of that dive and though not hang on the wall quality, they still give everyone a better idea of where we went and what we saw than trying to explain it to them. Who would believe me anyway....how big did you say that turtle was? hee..hee I did enjoy not having the bulk and hassle of a external flash, but socaldiver brings up a good point. I might come back from Laguna or Catalina with only pictures of backscatter!! I quess you just can't have your cake and eat it too! So have a blast in Maui socaldiver and make sure you share the pic's. Looking forward to seeing them! Thanks all...=:{)

The picture of the boats with the rainbow is perfect! Pat yourself on the back-I left work (Dallas) mentally and had my tank on my back, ready to roll...at least for a few minutes before I was drug back into reality. Thanks for the quick trip.

I dont have an external strobe either. When I was on the west coast of Canada I used my dive light as an external strobe. Some of the pictures turned out pretty good. But the pictures that i didn't use the light on had alot of back splatter. But i agree its nice to have that camera that you can pull out and shoot. Just a thought.

Now whenever I want to escape the woes of the real world, I'll be clicking onto your site looking for new photos! Where are we going next?!
