Hello!
I have recently aquired a Utilus plus ( 1971). The safety valve between 2nd and third stages is popping off slightly. Looking around the forums it seems third stage inlet valve is route one. I have taken the head off but am struggling to get the valve out to clean it. There is a bolt head that i can get an 8mm spanner on but it doesn't want to give. How brutal can you get with these valves? And, are replacements available? I haven't seen much info on this compressor so is it completely obsolete? Or can it be brought back into service? I will attempt to post some pictures. Thanks in advance for any assistance. Cheers!

Nice! I have two of these compressors. Rather than force the valve, try a bit of penetrating oil and heat. It can take a bit of a bump on the wrench, but its more fragile than a solid bolt.

I have been able to get replacement valves from jordair in Vancouver Canada. I have also had success using evaporust to clean them up and get them functional.

That valve is the discharge valve and while it may need work, the inlet valve is the causing the relief valve to lift.

Filter-techs.com also has aftermarket parts for a lot of the machine, but not the third stage discharge.

Hope that helps

Thanks for the speedie reply and for pointing me in the right direction. So now i need to get the other valve out. Is there a method of extraction that doesn't involve special bauer tools.? Thanks again.

The valve tool is really the best... you might be able to make one from a block of aluminum and appropriate sized drill bits if you are handy.

Thanks for the advice. I've got a bauer specialist local so l will see if he can suppky the tool. I'II probably have a load more questions as i go on with this project particularly relating to the filter/seperators that i can't at present get open but in the meantime thanks for time in assissting me.
