Just got back Saturday from Utila. We stayed the week with Utila Lodge and honestly they were just phenominal. The staff there is fun, dedicated, and absolutely the most accomodating folks that I've ever been around. The boat was roomy and stable, the dive masters for the most part were very capable, all in all a great operation.

However. . .you knew there had to be one. . the diving was absolutely lousey. This has nothing to do with the Lodge, they tried their best but my suggestion is DON'T GO TO UTILA IN NOVEMBER! We stopped measuring the rain in inches and switched to feet when it simply seemed more accurate and after something in excess of 20 inches of rain had fallen in about 36 hours. It rained every day with lots of surge and bad vis most of the time. The best vis we had was probably in the 40 ft range at the wreck of the halliburton. One good thing about the rain - no mosquitos or sand flies, however, it didn't seem to deter the no-see-ums, I'm still scratching.

All in all, I highly recommmend Utila Lodge, I don't recommend Utila in the rainy season cause they aren't kiddin.
