I was wondering if anyone had anything to say about the IDC programs on utila.. I am a certified commercial diver in the states and am looking to broaden my experiences and knowledge of all facets of diving.. I had a friend that got his DM down there and ha a blast.. So I just wanted to hear from some others who may have been impressed or not by any of the various shops on the island.. Also any info about the instructing job market would be appreciated..
Cheers..

I strongly recommend Utila Dive Center, goproutila.com. the course directors there, Andy and Suzi are top notch. they pump out instructors like a machine, but they are far from the typical Instructor factory. They are personal, and go out of their way for you throughout the process, even well after you are done spending money with them. We have hired a few of their graduates recently, and it's always comforting to know that even as brand new instructors, they will come in with their crap together and know how to teach. I have spent several months at UDC over the last few years taking various courses, and am always looking for another excuse to go back. I have made many life long friends on Utila, as well as plenty of fuzzy memories :)
