I use the largest size equalizer nose piece in my OTS Guardian. If I use a hood, the mask's skirt mounts over the hood's skirt, thus increasing the distance between my nose and the rubber equalizer. I'm then unable to equalize. I've been unsuccessful in fitting the mask under the hood's skirt. Should I cut off the hood's skirt? Is there a brand of hood or even a cap that Guardian divers prefer for cold water?

When I used OTS masks as well as the positive-pressure Poseidon Atmosphere (which would not allow any coverage of the mask skirt) I wore those FFMs over the hoods, as you had, and used various thin drysuit hoods that possessed neoprene "skin" around the face, for a decent seal; that, or the Poseidon "Black Line" series of hoods, that were designed in much the same way.

The obvious alternative is to simply cut the hood, as you said, to accommodate the masks . . .
