I am trying to decide and wanted to hear if you use either of these suits or how the quality customer service is for the companies.
The suit choices are..
1. USIA Aqua Pro Plus
2. BARE Trilam ATR HD.

Thank you.

I've used a USIA Aqua Pro suit for years and really like it. The only time I delt with their customer service was to have new boots installed and they were quick. I met the owners and they are really nice people. I'm really happy with mine.

Welcome to Scuba Board.
How is the diving in Port Orchard?

I have a USIA Pro Plus and am not fond of it. It is now my backup suit. It is very baggy and the boots are huge. Most people I know who have USIA suits have to wear ankle weights myself included. I don't on my primary suit though. I have been having some issues with my CF 200 that DUI has sinced fixed. During this period I looked long and hard at the Bare Tech dry and thought that would be my next suit. Try both on with your undergarmet. Which ever one is the most conforming to your body type I would go with that one. As to the undergarmet that comes with the USIA it is not nearly as warm as my Northern Divers garmet.
In another thread Boogie says that he has seen the USIA's having delamination issues. I personally have not seen that with mine.

Both companies are based nearby to us so service should not be too much of an issue.

I have a USIA Aqua Pro Plus that I have dove for about 2 years or so and I like it very much. I am not the wiley drysuit veteran but I did get to dive several other suits before making my purchase. I dove several other USIA suits (all of them were older mid to low end suits) and I hated them. I also tried a Mobbys suit and it was good. The Aqua Pro Plus I have has a back zip, with pee valve, latex socks, and I had them added a zippered pocket to the right thigh(it comes standard with velcro pocket on the left thigh). I have the exotherm underwear and they have done me well down to about 45 degrees although they seem to restrict my movement more than other undergarments I have tried. I have not had to use ankle weights with it nor have I had any defects with the suit. I don't know much about any other brands as I have little experience with them but I don't think you would be unhappy with the USIA.

Hope this helps

I use the Pro Plus - I would recommend that you pay extra for a custom fit. I live close enough to Portland, OR that I would actually go down there to try on different suits and talk with them because for me the off-the-rack Large is too big. I'm 6ft and 200# and it is too baggy on me (legs, torso and arms). Depending on what bcd you wear the cordura on the pro plus can make it more difficult to shrug on. I wear a BP and the nylon webbing doesn't want to slide over the cordura. Yes, the boots are big but I have really skinny feet and actually where very thick socks and put insoles into the boots which makes standing around in them easier. I also feel I need gaiters and those rubber straps on the boots to keep air out of them. I have the back entry zip too and the pro plus has the optional mid front zipper which I was told by USIA has the least issues for leaking (haven't had any issues with mine but that's the option I would go for). Let us know what you decide. I haven't see the Bare product put am checking other makers out.

I had been until resently diving a Bare Heavy Duty ATR and have had zero problems with it. Five years of diving it and it's been a great suit. Make sure you wear a proper undersuit (something with thinsolate in it) and you'll be a very happy camper. I resently (two months ago) replaced that suit with a Bare XCD2 and am very happy with it so far.
