I'd like to adapt a Sea-and-Sea type optical cable (first picture) to better work with my Canon WP-DC28 housing. My first attempt to block the internal flash and relay the strobe with a PVC block did work, but I had a very hard time keeping the block attached to the housing and the block is now on the bottom of Hood Canal.

I have a SeaLife optical cable (second picture) that looks like it could be more securely attached to the housing, but I'm reluctant to chop into that expensive optical cable without some assurance. FWIW, the SeaLife adapter attaches to the fiber cable with what looks like an allen screw, so it won't easily follow its brother into the deep

The sort of standard approach is to use velcro to attach the two. Get some cheap optical cables (toslink from Monoprice) and some bushings from Reef and build a few using velcro to attach the blocker to the housing.
