Hey,

Name is Zach...been diving a long while, but only have a few dives under my belt due to only being able to enjoy this hobby when my vacation comes up :) However, this time im heading out to Easter Island and decided to get a case and strobe for my trusty D200.....now, herein lies the problem!

and sorry for this shotgun thread, but im under the gun and need some advice on this ASAP!

The DS-125 strobe fires when I test it out not connected to anything...bright and strong as heck. But when I attach it to the Ikelite housing with the sync cable (with blue tag) it does not fire at all. What also happens is the camera does not take the pic no matter what I do...so whatever is happening is preventing the camera from taking the shot. The D200 viewfinder flashes red when this happens....never seen this before.

Any clue? If it's a bad sync cable i need to confirm that and place the order ASAP for the replacement (I fly out this thursday!!!)...my scuba store guy said i can get the cable by end of day Wed.

Maybe it's the settings on the D200? I'm not sure the problem is there...i shoot full manual 24/7...haven't really changed any settings. But is there a key setting I need to change?

sorry, im a newb! Any help is appreciated, thanks

I would call ikelite support. I buy everything from b&h and they also provide tech support. The other option is dpreview.com forum, lots of Nikon guys there.

I have an Ike for a canon. Not really much to do wrong. Good luck.
