Here is a question for you E-DSLR shooters. How many of you would upgrade to the new E-5 if Aquatica or Nauticam came out with a housing for it? Nauticam would be a viable option with their port adapters so you could use those valuable ports we already have. Nexus is supposed to be coming up with a housing , but I would rather have Aquatica or Nauticam for ease of quality service and customer relations. I have thought about moving to a Nikon or Canon but keep coming back to drooling over the new E-5. The write-ups have been very good.

I know I would pr-order a housing for the E-5, Question is would you.

Nexus has a housing for the E-5 and a conversion for owners of the Olympus E-3 housings talked about in this link, http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/olympus-outlet/367023-olympus-e-5-housing.html

SeaTool did a housing for the E-3 as well and does not appear to be repeating with an E-5 housing.

One issue would remain the number of cameras being sold compared to say the Nikon D-7000 which is a less expensive camera.

You have other cameras with much higher ratings like the Pentax K-5 that no one is building a housing for.

Nexus to me is out of the question. I want a company like Aquatica or Nauticam that gives support. They have up to date info on their websites that you can access without japenese to engish conversion. They supply gear rings to fit different lenses. Nexus only offers two gear rings from what I can see that fit their housing . People would buy more E-5's if a company would step up and give the support. Olympus has great optics and I like the internal IS that is in the body. With the E-5 quick focus I think it would be a great underwater camera only if the support is there.

I have a Nexus E-3 housing, if I upgrade it will be the conversion Phil mentioned.
I have had no issues with my Nexus housing and see no reason to change.

Just received my new Olympus E-5 and waiting to purchase (preorder?) an underwater housing. Disappointed that Ikelite is not building a housing for the E-5 as I'm was very happy with my Olympus E-30 camera in Ikelite hosuing. Nexus America states they are not aware of a nexus housing for the E-5, so I am still waiting for more information on an E-5 housing from Nexus.

If you go to diver vision they are selling the housings. I just got mine and was blown away by the service that they provided. They told me it would take two weeks for them to get in stock and on the 15th I had it in my hands. They do order them for you and it is not an item that is in stock but I found them very helpful

Graffa,

My Nexus E-3 housing went to AndyT so you may want to PM him as well for more information about an english manual. I don't think the E-3 housing came with one.

I got the E-3 housing from Reefphoto.com in Ft Laud. USA and the Nexus items seem to show up about a month or two behind the time they arrive in Asia.

I have been in contact with SeaTool/Recsea and they have no plans for an E-5 housing to replace their E-3 housing. Looks like the Nexus will be the only choice and a very good one.

For those looking for a quality housing for the highend Olympus E-3 camera I have just listed my SeaTool E-3 housing for sale. Also included are several items that may interest Olympus DSLR housing users.

See the Classifieds in the ScubaBoard underwater forum.
