Updating Petrel 2 with Ipad?

So my laptop has bit the dust. I'm looking at getting an IPad. Since I am ignorant of its capabilities, will an IPad allow me to do updates on my petrel 2? And alow me to use the logging software?

Reason being, after changing the battery on my Petrel 2, computer is locked up and says "do not dive" ..I contacted Shearwater and they recommended to update the firmware to v.37 and reset the defaults.They said they are aware that this is happening, this update addresses that.

So can I accomplish this using an IPad?

As far as I know you need to use Shearwater Desktop to update. This is not available for tablets or phones

No SW software for mobile devices, desktop only. TMK only the new petrel 2 is supported for mac's
