Bahamas is destroying its own natural resources which are so unique and typical for this country. There are no laws which could protect such biologically important marine ecosystems as mangroves are. Bahamian government gives often permissions to unsustainable developments which lead to destruction of natural heritage and also threaten lives and livelihood of local people. The results of senseless destructive actions are obvious-great losses of marine ecosystems. The problem of the lack enviornmental protection is largely invisible in the Bahamas.

In Bahamas there are several projects, according to Bahamian government environmentally friendly, which have disastrous impacts on environment.
For example on Bimini Islands www.restrictbiminibayresort.org
http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/885814782?z00m=9410691,
Guana Cay (www.saveguanacayreef.com), Mayaguana, etc.

In the pictures you can see extensive ongoing removal of mangrove forests.
For the comparison attached pics below are "before" and "after" destruction.
