My LDS has advised me that my first stage HP stage is leaking and needs to be trashed!!?!
Sorry I don't know what model it is but it's an older set maybe 8 years old + with the main distinguishing feature being that the LP outlets swivel on a turret type assembly on the top of the first stage. It came with an omega second stage on it.

My question is, can it really not be serviced? I thought most HP seats were replaceable?
And does anyone know what this model is known as?

Many thanks.

The only 1st stages I've seen that need being trashed are ones that have taken a lot of physical abuse... like a tank falling with the reg hooked onto it, and pile driving it onto concrete - or so much corrosion from neglect that the brass is pitted and can't make a seal even with the o-ring.

So short of that - saying it needs trashing does not make sense to me. We do service on regs for 49.95 plus parts... and since you don't know which 1st stage it is, we can only guess... but about 20 - 25 for parts for all 3 stages probably.

If you want a second opinion on it, fill out the form on this page: http://scubatoys.com/store/regs/regrepair.asp and send it to us... I'll let you know if it is usable and repairable before we charge you a nickle.

I cannot be certain which model it is exactly without seeing it - but it is a balanced piston. Every variation of this reg going back more than 20 years is serviceable, at least from at least from a replacement parts standpoint. There may be other issues as Scuba Toys suggested - I would recommend a second opinion.

Sounds like some whants you to buy a new reg, or doesn't want to service that Omega 2nd

Are they an Oceanic dealer? The Omega is an oddball regulator, and a bit tricky to service. Sounds like the kind of line a shop gives when they just don't want to work on something.
