I was positive I found about the US's travel advisory about undeveloped film here, but I couldn't find the post...

Just a warning for those of us still using film. Undeveloped film must go in your carry on if you don't want it damaged. Even with taking it on the plane, the new machines at pre-board screen may damage film if it goes through the x-ray screen more than five times.

In both countries, passengers may request a hand search.
