Hay ppl,,,

I am doing a project in Oman to monitor the Coral in Oman! in which we mark few corals and have a weekly reading of it for a full year.

I am now looking for a way to leave a marker on few corals with out damaging it or with out having the current move the marker away...

Currently I was thinking of steel plates with codes marked in them but to make the steel plates it would be too expensive.

I have tried bricks, and write on it with paint, but after few weeks the paint is gone.

If you have any Idea on how to do so please inform me...

A piece of pvc pipe with the site name burned into the pipe with a hot nail?

yea but would the PVC float??

If I attach a weight to it with a rope there is a chance that it gets lose...

So I will be back in Square one,,,

but that is a good Idea... thanx alot, it might help me come up with something...

Ziptie a plastic disk to dead coral nearby. Most plastics accept sharpie marker well if you scuff up the surface with sandpaper and let the ink dry.
