how many divers out there have used or are in use of an ikelite housing for the older cameras..did you like them or were they not very good

Hi!

I have a Subal Housing and have pals with Sea & Sea, Aquatica, and Ikelite housings. The general consensus amongst us is that Ikelite is considerably cheaper and works okay.

However, the controls are "sloppy" compared to the other three I mentioned. Never-the-less, the pal with the Ikelite takes very nice photos and has never considered one of our sturdier housings.

That said, my advice on housings is to try them in your hands and see how they feel. Many folks "fit" one brand better than another. For example, the right hand handle and the shutter release on the Subal fit me better than any other housing. Hence, I went with it. There were some other features, too, but that right hand fit really sold me.

If there are some stores in your area that sell different housings, try them out.

Hope this helps,

Scorpionfish
