one of my favorite pastimes, besides scuba, is underwater hockey. We play informal games in the pool here usually about once a week. I have been told that it is played all over, but I have never encountered it anywhere else?

do any of you play too, or know someone who plays or something?

Universities in the UK used to play (probably still do) but we called it octopush.

Never did play it but it sounds fun

A LDS has a match every other Fri or so. I have yet to play in a match but went and watched last week. Looks like a blast. I will be there next time.

It's still played very competitively in the UK. There's even a national team. I think there is a move to try and get it as an olympic sport too.

Is this sport played with scuba gear? What is used as a puck? What are the teams ? What are the rules? Is there a website?

This is a new one on me.

There used to be someone on Rodales' D2D called Ed from Holland who claimed his girlfriend was worldchampion.

Despite living almost next door I lost contact with him and don't go to D2D all that often anymore.

...and we have a very active local group. A few of my dive buddies play regularly and I know they go to tournaments. Pretty fun sport, just wasn't my cup of tea so I don't do it regularly. It definitely improves airway control though..

The LDS I used to go to once sponsored underwater poker games, but there hasn't been one in a long time. That sounds like fun, too. Has anyone ever taken part in that?
