Are there any underwater GPS units yet?

I have seen the video of the guy dragging one on the surface.

Just wondering if there are any on the market yet that can be taken with the diver on the dive?

The most promising is Navimate, see Navimate - GPS for Divers - Additional Information and FAQ's
Announced at DEMA 2009 for delivery summer 2010, now expected first half of 2011.

You can launch a GPS inside a water proof container to the surface to mark objects. That works today. There is a VHF/GPS coming this spring from Nautilus that can stay with the diver that may prove useful, for multiple reasons.

Thanks guys. Looks like the state of the art is such that you have to have an antenna on the surface
