I've recently taken a volunteer gig helping clean tanks at my local aquarium. It's pretty boring work while you're actually down in the water scrubbing the tanks. I've been thinking I'd love to be able to listen to an audiobook or something in the water.

Any suggestions on a cheap way to do it? I've got a a handful of old android cellphones and a small pile of retired MP3 players that could all do the job if I find the right housing. Can I just get one of those soft bags for mp3 players they sell at dive shops and some special headphones? I'd love to hear from someone who has done it. Even better I'd appreciate a link to something that will get the job done.

Also, if I'm playing stuff underwater is it likely that other divers or animals will be able to hear it?

I doubt anyone else will hear anything, at levels used by headphones. For example, at my pool training sessions, when I use a full face mask and I have to tell something to one of my coleagues, I need to be very close to their ears and actually speak very loud inside the mask (almost scream) if I want to be understood.

I have a speedo Aquabeat underwater MP3 player which is great and would be ok to a certain depth.

Thanks for the input. I haven't been in all the tanks yet but so far 15' or less.
