I do, but am not very favorably impressed with it. I won't renew it when it's due this coming May.

I subscribe to both the magazine and the website. If you frequently travel to dive, it is a good reference.

Both Scuba Diver magazine (formerly Rodale's) and Skin Diver magazine cover dive travel extensively, they both are cheaper and more travel thorough than Undercurent. All three now, though, just give moderate coverage to dive issuses, equipment, etc.

Uhmmm... Skin Diver went out of Business years ago. Rodales bought their subscription base when it happened. (Since Rodales Scuba Diving has sold out to someone else and is now just "Scuba Diving Magazine" like you said.) At least in the US there is no more Skin Diver for years. (Don't know about other countries.).

As for Undercurrent, I got a thing in the mail from them recently. They want $39/year for I think 6 ot 7 issues. Maybe it's 9 issues. Still a little pricey for a magazine subscription. So I didn't do it. However, the benifit of this high subscription rate is they are most likely not as advertiser biased like Scuba DIving mag and Sport Diver magazine is.

BTW... if you want a copy of Scuba Diving for cheap, you can get two years for about $8.99 or $9.99 off ebay from BlueSkyMagazines. That equates to about 40 cents per issue, which is pretty darn good for a diving magazine (no matter how biased they are).

I think the extra cost is worth it. There are no advertisements in Undercurrent. I question the objectivity of magazines that are reviewing the organizations that pay their bills.

A dive vacation can cost thousands of dollars and use up precious vacation time. I like to make sure I know what I'm paying for.

On the other hand, Scubaboard is a great source of information and it's free.

First off, have you ever seen / heard a bad comment on a dive op in a Dive magazine....No! They want the advertising $$$$. I personally would NOT book a trip based on anything I read / saw in a dive magazine.

Trip reports in the forum section of Scuba Diving and Undercurrents Chap Book are the only 2 sources that I would rely on. I feel the subscription is worth it if you take dive trips that you plan yourself. You get 10 issues plus a Chap Book at the end of the year that is a compilation of all of the readers reports for that year. Most people tell it like it is.

YMMV,
Dave

I did receive the subscription invitation for $39 for 9 issues + the chap book.
Is it more like a newsletter with no pictures or a magazine with pictures?
And yah, bluesky magazines on ebay is great. Thanks for all the responses, still haven't decide weather to subscribe or not yet.
