About to buy a new light, a pistol grip that's not a bank breaker. Had success w/ UK lights, providing I remember to screw the lens down over the O-ring before entry, so first choice is to stick w/ UK.

LP has the C8eLED for $99.95, the C8eLED Plus for $114. 95. First question, what's the difference? Second, since I will upgrade to rechargeable, what's the rough cost differential between their NiCad battery/ charger ($62.95) and a NiMH battery/charger set-up?

Or, in the same relative price range, other options?

The Plus series have traditionally been brighter with more battery life.

I'd go NiMH, because I loathe NiCad as a battery technology (by comparison). The NiCad's are cheaper, however, by approx $40 or so, but that's for top of the line stuff. Check here for good NiMH: www.thomasdistributing.com

Frankly, though, with LED lights, batteries last so long you might consider sticking with alkalines.

Don't know the specs, but the "Plus" may have one of the newer, brighter, more energy efficient LEDs in it?

And +1 on the NiMH over NiCad. I usually buy my rechargeable batteries from the Thomas Distributing as well.

I believe the plus has a heat sink on the eLED that transfers the heat to the water allowing the led to burn brighter. I typically used 4500ma NiMh on my LC100 and alkaline's on my eLed....the Light Cannon is/was my primary and I could roughly get two 90 min dives out each charge. The eLed is/was my backup and/or day light....have yet to even change the batteries...not sure how many hours on them.

The plus model has two LEDs that increase the intensity..
I have the C8 LED I picked up @ my LDS for $70 and it does the job for me. Much brighter and whiter then the standard bulbs - durability is also much improved
