Just thought I would share a problem I had with my UK light cannon that almost ruined a dive run.

My UK light cannon worked GREAT until it came time to change the batteries, I had to settle for some no name generic 711 brand and the light became very picky, I'd bump the light underwater and it would go out, things like that, I thought it was due to the "cheap" batteries.

Went on another dive and loaded up on some good energizers so I wouldn't have a problem, light wouldn't turn on, playing with the setup I coudl make the light flicker on for a second then go out, I thought it was something in the light head going bad, long story short, UK light cannon only works with Duracell batteries!

Dropped in some duracells, just like new!

I've been using UK's nicad cell pack in my light cannon and now it works when it feels like it. It will stay on for a few minutes then just turn off. Turning it on and off a few time USUALLY gets it to work for another few minutes but then it goes off again. Very weird. This also only seems to happen when I'm underwater. Above water, the thing works like a champ but I will not ever use it again as a priimary night dive light.

UK recommends not to use energizers, due to the design of the negative end of the battery. They only recommend duracell or rayovac batteries.

I don't think it's the batteries. Do this (unless it's still under warranty)

- Take the front off and take out the module where the light sits.....you'll see a printed circuit board with three little springs on it.

- Take the screws out (only the ones on the sides, the one inside the spring is for the switch) and remove the circuit board and turn it ovre.

- Now you'll see a odd looking screw in the middle of the bit that holds the switch on. Tighten it. CAREFULLY it's not an automobile....

- Now replace the circuit board and tighten all three of the screws on the back side of it. You're light should be fine now for a while.
