At the risk of starting something akin to the great "Arca Swiss or RRS" debate, I gotsta know: UCLS or TLC arms?

Price difference is pretty insignificant between the two - I am looking for the set that is easiest to lock down, with minimal fiddlling and no creep/looseness - fast to operate, and stays where you put it.

From what I gather searching WP and DDN, there isnt much to choose from, between these housings. So my question to people using either of these sets is:
- what do you like about it
- what do you hate about it

Of course, if someone has used both, a comparison would be perfect.

I am thinking of this arm as part of either an Aquatica 20D/S&S D50 housing setup. The bright shiny stuff on top is going to be an Inon Z240.

Regards & TIA,
Vandit

I have both and the only difference is if you want the Ultralite buoyancy arms. I use them since my rig is slightly negative and the do help some. Otherwise it’s a toss up.

You can't go wronng with either product, but most serious folks have migrated to the ULCS products. Lots of interchangable options and they work perfectly.

I used UCLS in my Nikonos V + Aqualens systems, and I use S&S Arms on my S&S DX-D50.
I have one Sea Arm VI (plastic light) and 2 Sea Arm V (heavy iron). By combining parts of them I can adjust both the overall weight and lateral balance (since I use one heavy YS120 and the lighter YS90).
I really like the S&S Arms for S&S housings, but if I had to go with any other brand, I would choose UCLS, but you must remember that along with the arms, you will have to buy the adapters (housing and strobes) if you think you would like to buy the UCLS system. S&S Arms are a complete package.

There's more connection options at the strobe end (housing end, too)with ULCS, but otherwise the quality, strength, durability, and usability is equivalent between the two.

I find that there's more sources in the US of A for ULCS.

All the best, James

Thanks for the info, guys!

I am a ULCS dealer and have had nothing but good luck with them. If I can help you out with anything please PM me and let me know what you want and I will do what I can to help..
