Several dive travel guides suggest bringing antibiotics. I was wondering if there is a broad spectrum antibiotic that would work for ear infection, stomach paracites, infected cuts etc., and other maladies that might befall a diver on a liveaboard or in remote locations. Not pennicillin or any with crossover reactions. Thanks

Our travel physician always gives us a prescription for Levaquin in case we need it.

As a physician, I usually write myself a prescription for Cipro and take that with me. Levaquin is also a good choice (as mentioned above). Both have very broad spectrum coverage and are good for common disorders you might get during a dive vacation.

I agree completely and usually do the same. But if you do this, or get someone to write a script for you. Please don't take it for a 'cold'. It will not work, and might give you side-effects.
