TX: New to SCUBA and new to SB.

Not certified yet, but signed up and for PADI OW with my 14 yr old son (as part of a local BSA Venturing crew). Unfortunately it won't happen until late May when I get back from a business trip. Until then it's playing with snorkles in the pool - at least it's warm enough for that here in Houston.

I've been visiting the board over the past couple of weeks and enjoying reading (most) all the posts and can see this a good place to check out regularly.

We're planning on doing the OW and then proceeding to AOW. Hopefully we'll get to the point that we can do a dive excursion when we go on a cruise in early August.

I'm also on my way to AOW and will be scuba diving on a cruise next year. In the meantime I'm taking a couple trips to Florida to get some warm water diving in - not that I have anything against cold Texas lakes

OW cert achieved Memorial Day Weekend!

Starting the AOW weekend of the 11th at the Blue Lagoon (Huntsville). I'm looking at doing Peak Performance Buoyancy, Navigator, Night Diver and DPV. The Deep Diver will have to come later when I'm not diving in a shallow lake.

Between now and then the gear will arrive. I thought I'd first want to only buy a computer, so that I would have one I could be very familiar with, but found that if I just about doubled my investment, I got a full package (reg, octo, BC, console)
