Greetings. Im interested to build a twinset. What are the best quality bands and hardware to do this. Manifolds also. Cheers

Well you can get a webbing harness maybe coated in urethane or stainess or steel
galvanised, chrome or powdercoated bands, and some valves of brass not 300 bar

Parts that fit. Generally from known manufacturers.

Apeks, ScubaPro, OMS, etc.

When I lived in Saudi Arabia where there was abundant diving, miserable shop offerings, lethargic logistics and byzantine customs, I bought my kit from www.divegearexpress.com .

DGX offers wide choices, provides excellent detailed product research to help you make an informed decision and they’ve worked out smooth shipping with DHL Express who offers superior parcel tracking.

Other vendors who will have what you want are www.dirdirect.com from England. If you know what you want, they’re great but the website doesn’t provide much detail for those still learning nor does their shipping policy prominently reflect international sales. I recall purchasing from them and having to correspond back and forth on shipping.

When I bought kit from DGX, it would leave Florida, get through Saudi customs and be available for pick up in about 96 hours. Yes, I paid for that shipping but I had the utmost confidence I was getting the right kit, that it was packaged properly for international handling and that it would arrive in a timely manner. My diplomatic mail was slow in comparison. As you may know, most diplomatic missions bypass customs or enjoy an accelerated process.

Have fun in the Maldives!

You're better off finding the parts you want already assembled and used. Just verify the bands are in the right spot and go dive.

I like the captured o ring manifolds (like DGX sells). You can loosen the lock nut and rotate the manifold while under pressure. I also like 3" stainless steel bands, but 2" work also.

Brand doesn't matter (to me). All the reputable companies listed above make good stuff.

Thank you all very much for your helpful comments. I’m not sure I will get much use for twinset in the Maldives but I’m definitely interested to learn and be ready for the right opportunity to do so. Safe driving everybody

If you simply want to get a feel for what it's like to dive back-mounted doubles, you could purchase a set of SS bands, and dive independent doubles. Keep in mind, though, that if you likely will purchase a manifold in the future, then you "should" pick your bands accordingly.

The first doubles I ever dove, I purchased a set of used, old-school bands from a LDS, set them up on a pair of cylinders (as independent doubles), and dove this configuration using my Scubapro Stab Jacket. Fun times.

That’s what I use on a buddy commando. Kent Tooling sell a kit so you can bolt them to a backplate.
