A friend and dive buddy ask for help with her TUSA Selene BCD. The BCD self inflates.
I started to disassemble the inflator mechanism and I'm surprised with the complexity of it.
Any one has the service manual ?
I could not find any manual in VDH Worldwide Manuals and Catalogs Repository

If it is broken, then you could almost certainly replace it with a standard "K" valve inflator for not much money.

Not broken, only a slight loss.
No, the hose is of a different size and the cord has a threaded conection.

Maybe the attached is helpful.

While fairly clever, the active purge assist is the textbook definition of over-engineered for me.
Thanks s lot !
Can’t agree more.

4 springs, 10 o-rings, lots of parts. Is it needed ?

And this is only the valve.

Well, opened, cleaned, o-rings changed, lubed and tested OK.
Complexity is the result of adding the APA system (Active Purge Assist). This valve has 3 push buttons, the two "normal" inflate, deflate and a third, which pneumaticaly opens the remote exhaust valve in the left shoulder. A way to avoid the huge force required to push-open it in "normal" inflators.

Is that better than the i3 BCD?

The beauty of the standard BCD or wing is simplicity. Less to go wrong, more reliability, easier to maintain, cheaper to fix.
