We're going to Club Med Turkoise on Provo end of Jan. (great deal + do not cook on vacation + hate the hassle and huge expense of dining out constantly... so love all-inclusives ...esp. adult only ones.. no screaming kids! yeah!)

But not sure about diving with them. Has anyone dove with them?

I hear they have large cats ...which = a lot of divers.. although they do let you go on your own.

If it looks to be not so great, then since the diving is extra, we could use another op.

Looking for a smaller boat/less divers + good bottom times, otherwise for convenience might as well stick with Club Med. We'd need an op that is close to the Club Med and will pick up/drop off. I contacted Dive Provo and they will pick up there and say they have 20 max. or more like 16.

Any comments/suggestions?

There are quite a few ops on Provo. I have dove with Caicos Adventrures and Provo Turtle Divers. I have been on Dive Provo's boats. All of the ops are good to great. There is a smaller op that runs six-packs out of Leeward called Big Blue. They might be worth checking out. Personally I only dive with Caicos Adventures. The boat rides on Provo tend to be longish (45 mins.) and the big cats the CA uses make it easy.

They do use large cats. The outer sides are for certified divers, who they let into the water while they prep the training divers and resort divers.

I never found it crowded during a dive, because my buddy and I would head off the beaten trail.

Thanks for the replies. Good point that if the trip is long it's nice to be on a bigger, more comfortable boat. We like being out on the water, so the longer trips don't worry us. We've also heard it's a must to get to West Caicos to dive. We've got plenty of time to decide (unfortunately... want to leave now! ;) Very excited about going to Turks and Caicos :)

Diverdebbie,
As was already posted the boat is big and rarely crowded, the outside rows are for buddy groups, all the middle rows are for training/group acompanied dives w/ divemaster. I get down there at least once a year, the food is good and at a point in the recent past was the best on the Island for a long time.

When I want to go to West caicos i usually ring Caicos adventures and go with Fifi, usually on a Thursday becaus that is their 3 tank day. If you have any specific questions feel free to PM me.

Does anyone have any information regarding the diving with Beaches hotel in Turks & Caicos. We were looking at going there, as they include two dives a day in the all inclusive package.

Thanks

Jackie,
Afriend of went there with kids and nannie. His impression was no positive of the dive operation there and after one day elected to go with an outside operation. That was two years ago and things may be better, considering the expense and schedule limitation YOU would have to be the judge of how important diving is to you on your family vacation.

we did a week at club med. dove with them every day. the boats are very comfortable and fast. yes, there could be a lot of divers, but, if you are diving with a buddy you get to go in the water first. We really enjoyed staying and diving there. no need to go anyplace else. we loved the diving conditions as well. make time to chill on the beach, it is beautiful! enjoy!

Thanks again everyone. We'll probably just stick with Club Med most of the time for the convenience (depending where they're going. We do need to do at least 1 trip to West Caicos) It seems like they're alright. This is a meant as a combo. dive/beach trip, so we'll be doing lots of R&R on the beautiful beach too :)

we did a trip to west caicos with them as well. that is when the fast power cat really comes in handy. very stable for the open ocean. I'm jealous! we leave for La Paz in 2 days. I almost wish I was going to T&C....
