Hi Ortoman.
Any advice on diving places in Turkey, and diving centres?
I've been to Turkey several times but it was some 15 years ago ....
I rember Kas and a place not too far with an underwater city.
I'll spend 2 weeks, starting from Istambul and leaving from Antalya.
I would spend some 5 days diving.
What would you recommend??

ciao

Here's my trip report:
I dove in Fethyie and Kas.
GOOD: Water temp 28°C on surface, 24°C at 30m, very good visibility, nice amphoras on each site
BAD: no fish. I found out that they still have an awful way of fishing .... that is ... dynamite.

Fethyie: European Diving Center. Extremely well organized. One boat for beginners, one boat for experienced divers, 12L AL tanks, decent equipment (I rented everything but the computer).
Barracudas and an eagle ray (which is pretty rare in the Mediterranean).

Kas: Barakuda diving (German owned). Despite being germans they are very nice
Nice boat, good equipment, 12L steel tanks, 1 hour diving. If you are experienced they brief you and you dive on your own, up to you.
Groupers, one turtle, big ancient (roman) anchors and amphoras.

I hope Turkish government will set some reserve areas in order to repopulate the sea. If there were fish it would have been fantastic. But one our looking at the blue and hoping to see somenthing ....

Moreover, I would say it is pretty expensive. More than the Red Sea, and this is ridicolous.

ciao

I got certified in Alanya, Turkey. I saw a lot of fish, sponge, anemon, squids etc. I would also suggest diving in Saroz. It's not a touristic region such as Fethiye, Kas so there are more to see. Also I heard Canakale is good place to dive especially for wrecks from world war 1 (I think).
