Just a quick trip report.

Got out this past Sunday for two dives off Catalina Island in (Southern) California with the SoCal Tech Divers (SoCal Technical Divers). Really fun bunch. Conditions topside and underwater were fantastic.

Dive 1: Tuna Clipper

This ship has not been positively identified, but appears to be an older wooden tuna clipper fishing boat. She rests in between 165-180' near the West End of Catalina. The wreck is covered in fishing nets. Deco was done coming up a reef toward the island.

Dive 2: Ship Rock

Not as spectacular as our trip here last month (http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/so...h-catalina-charter-cida-4th-july-weekend.html), but still a great dive. It's hard not to love this site. Once again, we were greeted by huge schools of blacksmiths.

Whew... I thought you had located the rumored wreck of the Spanish galleon off Ship Rock and found it to be a tuna clipper instead. Looks like the gold doubloons may still be there!

There's a (purported) Spanish galleon off Ship Rock? Now that would be a find! Alas, what we dived was just a lowly tuna clipper. Not half bad, though. :)
